Pony Gold is singer songwriter Theresa Bromley, performing under a pseudonym and dedication to a lost friend. Isolated in a small northern BC town, Bromley started writing songs from a young age. A self taught guitarist, her songs are raw, unfiltered and offer a poignant reflection on the human condition. Steeped in the complexities of an adverse small town upbringing, and navigating the murky waters of addiction, she puts forward evocative and tender lyricism about love, loss, purpose, and escapism with a voice that conducts emotion like copper wire conducts electricity. Inspired by artists like Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, and Justin Townes Earle, Bromley was raised on farmland, exposed to the sounds of classic country and folk where she found refuge.
Accompanied by husband and bottle neck slide guitarist Matt Bromley, the duo combine elements of country, soul, blues and folk to create a sound that is uniquely their own. They swoon in intimate and large settings, performing both as a duo and as a full band set up on stages across Canada and at renowned music festivals like Rifflandia, Filberg and Sunfest.
Pony Gold’s debut EP Take Me Somewhere (2023) garnered top 5 on college radio Roots/Folk/Blues charts. Pony Gold was a second ballot nominee for Group of the Year at the BC Country Music Awards, and Band of the Month at The Zone 91.3fm. Pony Gold is currently working on their sophomore record produced by Leeroy Stagger set to be released in 2025.
